The project involves the complete reprogramming of the administrative building, which dates from the 1960s, into a residential building, a two-storey extension and the complete renovation of the existing building envelope to meet new energy requirements.
The approach is highly commendable, as one of the first acts of sustainable development is the reuse of existing structures. In fact, the existing concrete point structure and non-load-bearing façades offer considerable scope for integrating new functions.
The typological principle developed here is simple: it proposes respecting the existing structural framework and building on it. It also generates endless flexibility and typological diversity. A number of duplex flats of different types have been added to the elevation. The aim is to offer users walk-through flats with uninterrupted views of the lake and the Alps on one side, and the station and the Jura on the other. Workshops-housing units have been created in the basement.
